The MLitt in Middle East, Caucasus, and Central Asian Security Studies (MECCASS) equips students with comprehensive knowledge of political and security issues across these regions. This one-year interdisciplinary program, offered by the School of International Relations, delivers thorough expertise in security matters concerning the Middle East, Caucasus, and Central Asia. The curriculum examines security frameworks, political systems, economic factors, historical contexts, and cultural aspects of these geopolitically crucial areas. Designed for those pursuing careers in diplomacy, government, NGOs, international business, or academic research, the program occasionally includes faculty-led study tours to Central Asia or the Middle East (subject to staff availability and regional conditions, with costs covered by participants). Students may also study Arabic, Persian, or Russian. Instruction benefits from practical insights as the program frequently hosts field experts and professionals.
