The MLitt in Intellectual History is an interdisciplinary degree that offers students comprehensive exposure to cutting-edge research in intellectual history, spanning diverse fields including politics, religion, philosophy, science, international affairs, economics, and literature. This taught postgraduate program examines significant historical developments, historiographical approaches, and methodological frameworks in intellectual history while allowing for personalized guided reading. By uniting specialists from various University departments who share a passion for investigating and contextualizing pivotal concepts within their disciplines, the program teaches students to analyze historical ideas as contextual phenomena. Participants also develop skills to interpret both the original intentions behind these ideas and their broader historical significance beyond their creators' visions. The curriculum addresses contemporary approaches to intellectual history and examines its connections with philosophy, literary studies, international relations, legal studies, political science, economics, and theology.
