The MLitt in Environmental History delves into humanity's relationship with nature through an advanced examination of science, medicine, and environmental history. This interdisciplinary postgraduate program is offered collaboratively by the Institute for Environmental History and the Department of Modern History. The course investigates how humans have engaged with their natural surroundings throughout time, providing students with access to this critically important academic discipline. During two semesters, participants undertake two mandatory modules plus one or two electives. Instruction occurs through seminars and biweekly tutorials, with class sizes varying from one-on-one guidance to groups of 12. Evaluation primarily involves coursework. The program culminates with a three-month period dedicated to researching and composing a final dissertation (maximum 15,000 words).
