This program offers advanced, research-focused study of Persian, Russian, and Spanish, enabling students to explore how knowledge is developed, expanded, and refreshed. It fosters independent learning among all participants, promoting curiosity, precision, academic integrity, and rigorous thinking. The 48-month curriculum culminates in a Master of Arts (Honours) degree. Like all St Andrews programs, it consists of credit-based modules, requiring students to complete 480 credits total, typically earning 120 credits per academic year. The initial two years feature mandatory program-specific courses alongside elective options (sometimes including interdisciplinary Faculty selections). Subsequent years provide specialized, research-driven instruction through tailored modules. The first two years combine core program requirements with various electives (potentially from other Faculties), while later years focus on advanced, discipline-specific research learning.
