This program offers advanced study of Persian and Russian through research-focused instruction, enabling students to explore how knowledge evolves and advances. It fosters independent learning among all participants, emphasizing curiosity, precision, academic integrity, and rigorous scholarship. Spanning 60 months, the course leads to a Master of Arts (Honours) degree. Like all St Andrews programs, it consists of credit-based modules, requiring students to complete 540 credits total, typically earning 120 credits annually. The initial two years combine mandatory program-specific courses with elective options (sometimes including cross-faculty modules). Subsequent years focus on specialized, research-driven coursework tailored to the program. The first two years blend core program requirements with selected electives (potentially from other faculties), while later years deliver advanced, program-specific research-oriented studies.
