This four-year program is offered collaboratively by our Department of Linguistics and English Language alongside our Department of Languages and Cultures.
In French Studies, we strive to help you achieve full fluency. You'll examine France's rich history, culture, political landscape, and social context. The program also covers English language fundamentals, including traditional linguistic elements like vocabulary, grammar, and phonetics. In your second year, you'll take core courses such as English Phonetics and Modern France, while advancing your French proficiency. Elective modules allow for personalized study paths. Combining English Language with French Studies enhances your understanding of contextual language use and provides analytical skills to examine how linguistic structures convey meaning.
Your third year abroad focuses on strengthening intercultural competence and language mastery. Options include studying at a partner institution or completing a professional placement to apply your language skills practically. Department faculty will provide guidance to prepare you for your immersive experience in France.
