This program offers an in-depth exploration of Modern Languages (German and Spanish) alongside Ancient History, delivered at an advanced, research-focused level. Students will develop insights into how knowledge evolves, progresses, and is revitalized. The curriculum fosters independent learning among all participants, emphasizing curiosity, integrity, precision, and academic rigor. Spanning 60 months, this course leads to a Master of Arts (Honours) degree. Like all St Andrews programs, it consists of credit-based modules, requiring students to complete 540 credits overall, typically earning 120 credits per academic year. The initial two years combine mandatory program-specific modules with elective options (sometimes including interdisciplinary Faculty choices). Subsequent years provide specialized, research-driven instruction through tailored program modules. The first two years blend core program requirements with diverse elective selections (potentially spanning different Faculties), while later years concentrate on advanced research-oriented studies through specialized coursework.
