This program offers an in-depth exploration of Modern Languages (German and Persian) combined with International Relations, delivered through research-focused teaching that shows students how knowledge evolves and advances. Participants will develop skills for independent study, fostering qualities like curiosity, precision, academic integrity, and rigorous thinking. Spanning 60 months, the course leads to a Master of Arts (Honours) degree. Like all St Andrews programs, it consists of credit-based modules requiring 540 credits total, typically 120 credits per academic year. The initial two years focus on mandatory program-specific courses alongside elective options (sometimes including cross-faculty modules). Subsequent years deliver specialized, research-driven instruction through advanced program-specific coursework. The first two years blend core program requirements with diverse elective choices (potentially incorporating modules from other faculties), while later years concentrate on tailored, research-oriented advanced studies.
