As an MA (Hons) French student, you'll refine your language and communication abilities to an advanced proficiency level. The program offers exploration of specialized subjects such as French linguistics, literature, cultural studies, historical contexts, political systems, and cinematic arts. In your third year, you can participate in study abroad opportunities at one of the University's Erasmus partner institutions in France. Those who complete a year overseas gain not only practical teaching and tutoring experience but also enhance their language capabilities, cross-cultural understanding, and personal confidence. This curriculum combines advanced, research-focused study of both French and Greek, enabling students to comprehend how academic knowledge evolves and progresses. The program fosters independent scholarship characterized by inquisitiveness, ethical standards, precision, and academic discipline. Spanning 60 months, this course leads to a Master of Arts (Honours) degree. Like all St Andrews programs, it consists of credit-bearing modules requiring 540 credits total, typically 120 credits per academic year. The initial two years generally involve core program modules alongside elective options (sometimes including interdisciplinary offerings). Subsequent years focus on specialized, research-oriented study through program-specific advanced modules.
