This program offers advanced, research-focused study of Arabic, German, and Spanish, enabling students to explore how knowledge is developed, expanded, and refreshed. It fosters independent learning among all participants, promoting curiosity, precision, academic integrity, and rigorous scholarship. Spanning 48 months, the course leads to a Master of Arts (Honours) degree. Like all St Andrews programs, it consists of credit-based modules, requiring students to complete 480 credits total—typically 120 per academic year. The initial two years combine mandatory program-specific modules with elective options (sometimes including interdisciplinary Faculty selections). Subsequent years focus on specialized, research-driven coursework tailored to the program. The first two years blend core program modules with diverse electives (potentially from other Faculties), while later years emphasize advanced, program-specific research learning.
