This program offers an in-depth exploration of Arabic and Middle East Studies through research-focused learning, enabling students to comprehend how knowledge evolves, progresses, and is revitalized. It fosters independent scholarship among all participants, emphasizing curiosity, precision, academic integrity, and rigorous analysis. Spanning 48 months, the curriculum culminates in a Master of Arts (Honours) degree. Like all St Andrews programs, it consists of credit-based modules, requiring students to complete 480 credits—typically 120 per academic year. The initial two years combine mandatory program-specific courses with elective options (potentially including interdisciplinary selections). Subsequent years focus on specialized, research-driven coursework tailored to the program's academic objectives. The first two years blend essential core modules with diverse electives (sometimes from other faculties), while the later years deliver advanced, discipline-specific research instruction.
