As an MA (Hons) German student, you'll refine your language and communication abilities to an advanced level. Studying German at St Andrews allows you to tailor your education by selecting from diverse course offerings that delve into the rich cultural traditions of German-speaking regions, covering areas like medieval studies, cinema, intellectual history, and literary-social developments from the 18th century onward. This four-year program, offered by the School of Modern Languages, welcomes both beginners and students with prior German qualifications (A-Level or SQA Higher). During the initial two years, modules are tailored to each student's proficiency level. All participants will enhance their German capabilities while gaining comprehensive insights into German literature, civilization, and cultural heritage.
