Geophysics explores Earth's physical properties using scientific methods. You'll study mathematics, physics, and geology, with optional courses in astronomy, geography, and archaeology. At Southampton, you'll develop expertise in modern geophysics while acquiring technical abilities in geological analysis, mathematical modeling, and computational methods. The program includes hands-on fieldwork and coding experience. Completing the intensive one-year Foundation Year ensures admission to any of 16 combined undergraduate degrees in Engineering, Mathematics, Physics, or Geophysics. This preparatory year covers fundamental concepts in mathematics, mechanical sciences, engineering fundamentals, and electrical principles. You'll conduct lab experiments and complete projects to enhance your analytical and problem-solving skills. Throughout the Foundation Year, dedicated tutors provide personalized guidance and constructive feedback to support your academic growth.
