Our Operating Department Practice (ODP) program is designed for those passionate about anesthesia, surgery, and patient care, preparing them for roles in operating theaters and other medical environments requiring surgical or anesthetic procedures. Students will gain expertise in perioperative care, covering patient and facility preparation, assisting surgical teams to maintain safety and efficiency, and delivering compassionate treatment. Operating theaters hold a unique position in healthcare, known as specialized, high-skill environments that play a vital role in treating diverse medical conditions. Their smooth operation depends on a collaborative team, with operating department practitioners serving as key members. Upon graduation, students can apply for registration with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) and join the College of Operating Department Practitioners (CODP), qualifying them to work as professional practitioners with excellent career prospects.

Operating Department Practitioners work primarily in surgical settings, with opportunities across various specialties. The field is evolving, offering chances to develop advanced skills for career growth, including expanding roles in pre-operative care. This program equips graduates to work in NHS and private healthcare operating departments. Completing the course enables eligibility for HCPC registration and CODP membership, opening doors to diverse employment opportunities as a certified Operating Department Practitioner.
