Contemporary electronic system design requires expertise across diverse fields, spanning electrical network analysis, signal processing, programmable systems, and the programming languages essential for hardware circuit development.
During their first year, all students participate in the faculty's Global Engineering Challenge, collaborating with peers from various engineering backgrounds to address practical challenges. Second-year Electronics and Computer Engineering students undertake a week-long industry-sponsored project. Additionally, the Sheffield Industrial Project Scheme provides opportunities for hands-on experience with engineering firms.
Third-year students conduct independent research projects under faculty guidance, delving into advanced subjects like digital signal processing, VLSI design, hardware description languages, and operating systems.
The final year involves multidisciplinary teamwork on an industry-informed research initiative led by academic experts.
