Our physics and astrophysics program offers more extensive astrophysics coverage than typical degrees, guiding you through celestial bodies, galaxies, and cosmic beginnings. You'll receive hands-on training with our rooftop telescopes and participate in yearly excursions to an international observatory in the Canary Islands.
In our Physics and Astrophysics curriculum, half your studies will focus on astrophysics modules. This specialized approach provides deeper astrophysics content than most programs, exploring everything from solar system formation to stellar evolution and cosmic origins.
Our facility features two rooftop telescopes that you'll learn to operate starting in your first year. Additionally, we maintain an observatory on La Palma (Canary Islands) where students conduct research during our annual field expeditions.
Early in the program, lectures and labs will establish core physics principles including thermodynamics, electromagnetism, and quantum theory. You'll simultaneously begin astronomical studies covering planetary systems, stellar phenomena, galactic structures, and cosmological fundamentals. Practical sessions include telescope operation and programming classes that develop skills vital for modern astrophysics and applicable to various careers like data analytics and software development.
