Join one of the UK's most established Japanese Studies programs, with six decades of experience shaping experts in this field. Our distinguished faculty will equip you with linguistic competence, analytical skills, and cultural understanding to engage critically with Japan's society, history, politics, and traditions.

From the outset, you'll dive into the language, mastering phonetic scripts (kana) and gradually learning 2,000 kanji characters throughout your degree – all while gaining expertise in humanities and social sciences. Our rigorous language training ensures you'll achieve advanced proficiency in both written and spoken Japanese.

A year abroad at a Japanese university will let you apply your knowledge while gaining transformative experiences. In your final year, you'll complete a dissertation on a topic of your choice, guided by internationally recognized scholars.
