Our research explores the intersection of music with various artistic disciplines, while incorporating and advancing methodologies from diverse fields. We accept doctoral proposals across a wide spectrum of topics. Our faculty consists of globally renowned experts in their respective areas. Prospective students should seek out an appropriate supervisor to refine their research ideas. Typically completed in three years full-time or six years part-time (with an optional additional year for thesis completion and examination).

As a doctoral candidate, you will:

produce a comprehensive written dissertation of maximum 100,000 words, guided by your academic advisors
defend your research through an oral examination (viva voce) before an expert panel
Select from various optional courses in coordination with your supervisory team, including specialized music studies and research development modules.

Qualification Requirements

Masters degree in a relevant subject or equivalent research experience. If your masters is in a subject other than music you must demonstrate a suitable level of aptitude. IELTS - 7.0 (with a minimum of 6.0 in each element), TOEFL (iBT) - 100 (with a minimum of 20 in speaking and 19 in all other elements)
