Our research explores how music influences political transformations at local, national, and global levels, while also impacting personal identity formation. We invite diverse doctoral research proposals across this field. Our faculty consists of world-renowned experts in their respective disciplines. Prospective students should seek out an appropriate supervisor to refine their research ideas. Typically pursued as a three-year full-time program or six-year part-time option (with an additional year available for thesis completion and examination).

Key program components include:

producing a 100,000-word dissertation with guidance from faculty advisors
defending your research through an oral examination (viva voce) before an academic panel
Elective courses, selected with your supervisory team, offer specialized music studies and research methodology training.
