The Performance Pathway provides comprehensive training in music performance at an advanced level, blending practical skills with theoretical knowledge and professional development. This program fosters your growth as a well-rounded performer while preparing you for success in the modern music industry.
The full-time faculty features Director of Performance Ceri Owen, an acclaimed collaborative pianist and scholar who oversees the pathway, alongside scholar-performer and early music specialist Andrew Kirkman. Students receive personalized instruction through one-to-one sessions with distinguished professional musicians, either from the University of Birmingham faculty or the Royal Birmingham Conservatoire. The program also offers access to unique performance opportunities through the Centre for Early Music Performance and Research (CEMPR). Additional performance faculty includes Simon Halsey, celebrated chorus director for the CBSO and Berlin Radio Choir, and orchestral conductor Daniele Rosina.
