Our Master of Music (MMus) and Postgraduate Diploma (PgDip) programs in Orchestral Performance are designed for highly skilled string players preparing for professional orchestra auditions and standing at the threshold of their careers.
Alongside personalized instruction from specialists, you'll dedicate substantial rehearsal time with the CBSO, working closely with designated mentor musicians. Opportunities may arise to perform within the section for hands-on experience. Beyond refining technical abilities, musical interpretation, and stylistic understanding, you'll broaden your orchestral repertoire knowledge, master efficient rehearsal preparation techniques, acquire strategies for seamless section integration, and build audition confidence.
The program includes participation in diverse performance initiatives across the Conservatoire's String Department and wider institution, encompassing performance workshops, masterclasses, orchestral performances, and chamber music collaborations. You'll enjoy unrestricted access to our exceptional £57 million facilities, featuring a Concert Hall, 150-seat Recital Hall, The Lab experimental performance space, and over 70 acoustically optimized practice rooms and workshops - all creating a world-class musical environment.
