This research area examines the ways artistic works have been gathered, observed, and debated throughout history and in contemporary times. Although museum histories and the evolution of both public and private collections naturally receive significant focus, this research team equally emphasizes how artworks are presented and how shifting temporal perspectives influence their current significance. Revival movements play a crucial role in understanding how artistic pieces cycle through periods of popularity and scholarly attention. While the group primarily concentrates on European and North American contexts, it also explores imperialism's impact and cross-cultural interactions. This encompasses exchanges between Eastern and Western traditions, as well as societal and individual perceptions of foreign cultures.
