Our Master of Research in Critical Theory thrives on the diverse academic backgrounds and global viewpoints of our faculty and students. We foster a dynamic, international student body, with much of our research shaped by cross-border and cross-cultural approaches.
The program builds on faculty strengths in:
contemporary theory
political philosophy and government
art theory
feminist, queer, and gender research
cultural, literary, media, and visual analysis
psychoanalytic studies
art historical studies
postcolonial, sensory, and science/technology research. Full-time students complete 180 credits annually, with 60 credits from coursework (three 20-credit modules).
Students develop their thesis topic in consultation with supervisors (typically two co-advisors). The final dissertation, evaluated by internal and external examiners, is due at year's end, with potential oral examination for degree confirmation.
