Our three-year BEng in Product Design and Manufacture merges creative thinking with engineering fundamentals, equipping students with essential skills for design-oriented careers. We live in a world filled with challenges, ranging from minor inconveniences to major global issues like climate change. Product Designers blend creative, engineering, and manufacturing expertise to develop practical, market-ready solutions for these problems.Our program leverages cutting-edge technology—from digital sketching to advanced 3D printing, rapid prototyping, and virtual reality tools—ensuring graduates are ready for today's product design landscape.Students explore diverse modules to build hands-on design capabilities and expertise in crucial areas such as manufacturing, materials, ergonomics, and marketing.Project-based learning is central to the curriculum, tackling real-world challenges across industries like healthcare, automotive, packaging, appliances, and electronics. These projects encourage a practical design approach, applying manufacturing and engineering principles to create components and products suitable for mass production while considering commercial viability.Our faculty includes academics with industry experience and practicing Product Designers, keeping the curriculum aligned with employer needs.Career ProspectsYou'll acquire both practical and theoretical skills to design marketable products and services in the industrial design field. Art or design and technology are also desirable as 2nd subjects for the course but are not required.
It is possible to transfer to the MEng during the course subject to satisfactory progression.

Excluded subjects
General Studies, Critical Thinking, Citizenship Studies, CIE Global Perspectives and Research, CIE Thinking Skills.

Following the meeting, for those considered for year one entry, our typical offer is as follows:
RQF Level 3 BTEC National Extended Diploma in Engineering: DDD including Distinction in units -
RQF BTEC Extended Diploma plus A Level Maths: DDDin BTEC plus A Level Maths Grade B
RQF BTEC Diploma plus A Level Maths: DD in BTEC plus A Level Maths Grade B
RQF BTEC National Extended Certificate plus 2 A Levels: Distinction in BTEC plus A Level grades BB including Maths
Access to HE Diploma
Following the meeting, for those considered for year one entry, our typical offer is as follows:
Access to HE Diploma 30 Level 3 credits at Distinction (to include a minimum of 15 Level 3 credits at Distinction in Mathematics and 15 Level 3 credits at Distinctions in Engineering/Science units) and 15 Level 3 credits at Merit.
English language requirements
IELTS: 6.0 (with a minimum of 5.5 in each element)
TOEFL (iBT): 80 (with a minimum of 17 in writing and listening, 18 in reading and 20 in speaking)
