Our PhD/MPhil Medicine program offers you the opportunity to pursue a research initiative that advances medical knowledge. Postgraduate medical research at Manchester presents both challenges and rich rewards. Students benefit from top-tier facilities and collaborate within a dynamic research environment, maintaining strong connections with local healthcare providers and industry partners. Research possibilities span multiple disciplines, covering biomedical, clinical, and health policy domains. Potential studies range from exploring disease origins at cellular/molecular levels to creating targeted clinical treatments and enhancing patient and population healthcare systems. Many medical research projects have predefined topics, welcoming applications for these structured studies. We also support applicants who propose their own research ideas after consulting with academic staff and research teams. Frequently, the most fulfilling projects emerge through collaborative development between candidates and potential supervisors who share mutual research interests.
