The Mental Health Research Unit (MHRU) operates as a specialized research team within Sheffield's Centre for Health and Related Research (SCHARR).
Our researchers conduct studies addressing mental health challenges, concentrating on the requirements of individuals facing both prevalent and severe psychological conditions, along with the care systems that assist them.
The unit's faculty provides educational instruction across multiple School of Medicine and Population Health programs, covering undergraduate medical training and various postgraduate studies. We additionally guide numerous student research projects at both undergraduate and Master's levels, along with supervising doctoral candidates.

Qualification Requirements
Entry criteria: MD programme
To be considered for entry to the MD programme you must be,
a holder of an MBChB degree from the University of Sheffield of at least three years' standing or
a recognised graduate in Medicine, with a qualification which confers eligibility for full or provisional registration with the General Medical Council, and a full or part time member of the established or honorary staff of the University of Sheffield or
a recognised graduate in Medicine of at least three years' standing with a qualification which confers eligibility for full or provisional registration with the General Medical Council, and a Higher Degree from the University of Sheffield or another University.
IELTS 7.0 (with 6.5 in each component) or equivalent gained within the past two years, if your first language is not English. TOEFL- Overall score of 95 with a minimum of 21 in Listening, 22 in Reading, 23 in Speaking and 22 in Writing, Pearson Test of English Academic (PTE Academic) - Overall score of 67 with a minimum of 61 in each component.
