Our PhD/MPhil Immunology program allows you to pursue a research initiative aimed at advancing immunological knowledge. Proper regulation of the immune system is crucial for multiple reasons. Regarding infectious diseases and cancer, activating immune defenses is vital to combat these threats. However, overly aggressive immune reactions to pathogens can themselves become harmful. Additional immune-related disorders arise from responses targeting the body's own tissues (autoimmunity) or harmless substances (allergies). Consequently, studying immune system regulation is essential. Various innate and adaptive immune cells collaborate to orchestrate immune defenses. Investigating these cellular interactions will not only aid in developing methods to direct immune responses against infections and tumors but also help prevent harmful reactions to the body's own components and benign environmental factors.
