Our PhD/MPhil in Evolutionary Biology offers you the opportunity to conduct groundbreaking research using advanced techniques including experimental, field-based, molecular, genomic, epigenomic, and bioinformatics approaches to advance our knowledge of Evolutionary Biology. Evolutionary principles form the foundation for addressing numerous fundamental questions across the life sciences. Understanding life's diversity requires examining evolutionary connections between species and the mechanisms driving trait development and preservation. In biomedical fields, evolutionary concepts are crucial - from comparing model organisms to humans, studying antibiotic resistance, to identifying pathogen variants through molecular analysis. Evolutionary biology research explores patterns and processes across microorganisms, plants, and animals, with faculty expertise in evolutionary genetics, genomics, epigenomics, phylogenetics, behavioral ecology, and evolutionary developmental biology. This wide-ranging research employs cutting-edge methodologies such as genome sequencing, epigenomic studies, CRISPR-Cas9 gene editing, alongside field studies, bioinformatics, transcriptomics, and mathematical modeling.
