Our PhD/MPhil Biomedical Imaging Sciences program allows you to pursue a research project advancing knowledge in Biomedical Imaging Sciences. The department offers established research initiatives in neuroimaging, cancer imaging (including mammography), and musculoskeletal imaging. Key strengths span imaging techniques and medical specialties, with a focus on image reconstruction, quantitative analysis, pharmacokinetic modeling of imaging data, and computer vision applications in biomedical imaging. Collaborative partnerships with Nuclear Medicine departments at Christie NHS Foundation Trust and Central Manchester University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust facilitate clinically integrated research projects. The University's imaging resources primarily feature pre-clinical and clinical Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) and Positron Emission Tomography (PET) systems, highlighted by the recent addition of a cutting-edge clinical PET/MR scanner.
