Our PhD/MPhil Dermatological Sciences program offers you the opportunity to conduct a research project that advances knowledge in Dermatological Sciences. The Dermatology Center's research is carried out by established teams and independent investigators exploring diverse skin disorders, including psoriasis, skin cancer, photodermatoses, inflammatory hair disorders, wound healing, skin aging, and the psychological impact of living with skin conditions. Individual researchers focus on specialized areas within these fields, such as disease genetics, genomics, immunological mechanisms, epidemiology, the brain-skin connection, and psychological assessments of disease burden, providing a broad spectrum of postgraduate research opportunities. We have an excellent history of mentoring postgraduate researchers, with all faculty members actively involved in supervision. The center's supervisors excel in training and mentorship, tailored to support career growth at every stage. You'll receive instruction in skills pertinent to your research and will have opportunities to engage in patient/public outreach (PPE/I) to share your work with the community and patients. The Dermatology Center consistently secures funding from prestigious organizations like the Medical Research Council, National Institute for Health Research, British Skin Foundation, and Psoriasis Association.
