Molecular biology techniques form the foundation for studying microbial, plant, and animal systems across various research disciplines. Contemporary ecological and evolutionary studies rely heavily on molecular approaches, employing cutting-edge genomic, metabolomic, and analytical chemistry techniques alongside computational biology. This scientific field aims to decipher biological mechanisms at the molecular scale, whether examining single cells, entire organisms, or complete ecosystems. The School's molecular research spans diverse areas including ancient DNA analysis, genetic population studies, ecological interactions in plants and soils, stress adaptation in organisms, biotechnological applications in plants and microbes, and microbial evolutionary processes.
