Our MSci Microbiology program focuses on examining microorganisms, with special attention given to bacteria, viruses, fungi, and protozoan parasites. Microbiologists play a crucial role in conducting essential research to combat global infectious diseases, recognize microbes' environmental significance, and utilize them for food production, biotechnology, and industrial uses.
This program primarily examines disease-causing organisms and their pathogenic mechanisms. Students will also explore microbial biochemistry, physiology, and genetics.
The first year establishes foundational knowledge, followed by specialized microbiology studies in subsequent years.
During Year 4, students complete a significant research project in one of the University's 200+ research laboratories to earn their undergraduate master's degree.
