The Master of Science in Social Research Methods and Statistics caters to students without extensive statistical backgrounds while offering greater specialization than comparable social research methods programs. Applicants should possess foundational undergraduate research methods knowledge, which the program will expand to develop robust statistical and analytical capabilities. Preparatory training resources are provided before the program begins. This MSc maintains close ties with the Cathie Marsh Institute for Social Research, underscoring our dedication to cross-disciplinary, collaborative research. Our department's research encompasses both methodological approaches and practical applications, with particular emphasis on social disparities, demographic trends, and survey techniques. The program holds accreditation from both the Economic and Social Research Council (ESRC) and the North West Doctoral Training Centre, where we consistently secure numerous Advanced Quantitative Methods (AQM) and CASE awards annually.
