Immunology is a rapidly evolving discipline that influences current and emerging challenges across biomedical and biological sciences. Our BSc Immunology program provides comprehensive training in understanding the elements, principles, and functions of a healthy immune system, including how these components work together to provide effective defense against pathogens. Throughout your studies, you'll examine how the immune system differentiates between healthy and compromised cells, recognizes foreign threats, adapts responses to various infectious agents, and varies reactions based on different bodily environments like the skin, digestive tract, and respiratory system.

Beyond exploring normal immune function, the curriculum also investigates cases of immune dysfunction, including allergic reactions, autoimmune disorders, and immunodeficiency diseases. You'll study cutting-edge applications of immunological science in diagnostics and treatments, such as immunotherapy for cancer, vaccine development, and managing transplant rejection.

Our flexible, modular program structure allows you to pursue specialized interests while developing fundamental immunological expertise. As a leading UK hub for Immunology research, we offer exceptional laboratory opportunities for your final year research project.
