The BA in French and Italian program seeks to: Equip you with thorough expertise in French and Italian languages, literature, culture, history, and linguistics, preparing you to thrive in French and Italian-speaking settings. Foster your understanding of Italy's language and cultural heritage spanning from medieval times to contemporary society. French Instruction The majority of our faculty are native speakers, conducting classes in French for both language and cultural studies. Weekly instruction includes 3-6 hours of French grammar and conversation (available for both post-A-Level students and beginners), designed to achieve near-native accuracy and fluency. Complementary optional units explore French and Francophone history, politics, literature, popular culture, and linguistics from the Early Modern era onward. Italian Studies Our curriculum integrates the examination of history, politics, and literary/linguistic/visual traditions of Italy, taught by subject experts. A specialized linguistics track is available for students interested in Italian language evolution and regional dialects.
