The Mathematical Sciences program at Liverpool provides extensive options for advanced study within a vibrant research community. Research activities are structured across 9 specialized groups, complemented by 3 dedicated research centers. Currently, 12 dynamic research teams explore diverse fields in Mathematics and Theoretical Physics, supported by funding from EPSRC, STFC, and various other organizations. Cutting-edge computational resources are accessible to all researchers. In the latest Quality Assurance Agency assessment, the Department achieved an outstanding score of 23 out of 24 points for teaching excellence.
Our Department presents diverse postgraduate research possibilities across four principal disciplines: Applied Mathematics, Pure Mathematics, Theoretical Physics, and Financial/Actuarial Mathematics with Applied Probability. Our consistent research excellence has secured the highest possible rating in all four Research Assessment Exercises to date.
