The Medieval and Renaissance track leverages our extensive expertise in medieval and early modern studies across history, literature, and languages. Employing an interdisciplinary methodology, we examine the literature, art, philosophy, religion, governance, and social structures of these eras, investigating their transformation and lasting impact on contemporary culture. During this program, you'll engage with compelling topics connected to medieval and early modern studies. You'll investigate concepts and practices of both secular and religious authority, exploring power dynamics within these historical societies.
This includes examining evolving gender perspectives and identity formation to develop a sophisticated grasp of the period's cultural and societal frameworks.
Participants will also cultivate advanced research capabilities, work with original texts, and acquire training in historical languages and manuscript studies. By analyzing primary sources, students develop profound insights into these historical contexts and their ongoing influence today.
You'll have full access to participate in initiatives through Liverpool's Centre for Medieval and Renaissance Studies.
