The oceans harbor life in all shapes and sizes, from tiny plankton to massive blue whales. As a marine biology student, you'll explore how ocean creatures behave, function, and interact with their environment. The sea, where life first began, continues to host diverse ecosystems shaped by biological, chemical, and physical forces.
You'll investigate how marine life adapts to environmental factors like temperature and food supply, while facing modern threats from climate change and human activity. The program equips you with practical skills to study marine ecosystems and effectively communicate your research to everyone from local communities to policymakers.
Your studies will focus on the relationships between marine organisms, seawater chemistry, and ocean dynamics.
The curriculum emphasizes sustainable ocean management, marine biogeochemical cycles, climate systems, and quantitative analysis. Through hands-on training at sea, in the field, and in labs across all three years, you'll develop core competencies for marine science - including data collection, processing, analysis, and interpretation techniques.
Several programs include lab and fieldwork components conducted in diverse settings from urban waterways to coastal zones and highland areas. We welcome applications from students with disabilities and will implement appropriate accommodations to ensure equal access to all program elements.
