This program offers comprehensive insight into today's pressing environmental issues while equipping you with practical skills to tackle them. You'll explore the evolution of urban and regional landscapes while specializing in environmental conservation or urban renewal topics. The curriculum provides holistic knowledge about environmental influences and how planning can balance diverse stakeholder needs. Emphasis is placed on safeguarding and improving both natural and constructed environments amidst rapid global transformations. Through interdisciplinary learning, you'll benefit from the combined expertise of Planning specialists along with faculty from Geography, Sociology, and Architecture departments.
Liverpool has undergone remarkable economic, social, and environmental transformation over three decades. University of Liverpool staff and students have actively participated in this evolution through research, analysis, and collaboration with local planners, developers, and communities. This makes Liverpool a perfect urban case study for examining global change processes.
The program forms part of an interconnected set of planning degrees, with foundational modules in the first two years shared across our BA Urban Planning, MPlan Town and Regional Planning, and BA Geography and Planning courses. Students may switch between these programs during the initial two years if their academic focus or career goals shift, provided they meet necessary academic requirements.
Several School programs incorporate laboratory sessions and fieldwork conducted in diverse settings from urban centers to coastal and mountain regions. We welcome applications from students with disabilities under the same criteria as all applicants, and will make appropriate accommodations to ensure accessibility.
