Why choose this program? Our knowledge of Earth's natural and physical systems is crucial for tackling global challenges such as climate change, pollution, and environmental degradation. This Environmental Geography program explores Earth's processes and examines humanity's long-term impact on our planet. You'll investigate diverse ecosystems worldwide, from polar regions to tropical reefs, analyzing current and future environmental pressures. The curriculum incorporates modern technologies while building expertise in geographic mapping, research methodologies, data analysis, and solution development. We leverage our regional setting with frequent field excursions to South Wales' Gower Peninsula, Glamorgan Heritage Coast, and Brecon Beacons. International study opportunities have previously included destinations like the Netherlands and Switzerland. This program attracts environmentally conscious students passionate about creating meaningful change. Graduates emerge equipped to address complex ecological challenges, with hands-on field experience and exposure to innovative research methodologies. Academic approach Our welcoming department features internationally recognized researchers as instructors. The teaching methodology blends theoretical knowledge with practical application through: interactive lectures, lab sessions, field studies, small-group tutorials, workshops, and seminars. The program fosters both independent and collaborative learning, cultivating transferable skills for future careers - including project coordination, organizational abilities, technological proficiency, and mastery of advanced field equipment and techniques.
A level - ABB-BBC (with 1 science subject) or BBB-BCC (with 2 science subjects). Acceptable science subjects: Biology, Chemistry, Computer Science, Environmental Science, Geography, Geology, ICT, Maths, Physics, Statistics. International Baccalaureate - 32-30 overall or 665 in 3 HL subjects (with 1 HL science subject) or 31-29 overall or 665-655 in 3 HL subjects (with 2 HL science subjects). Acceptable science subjects: Biology, Chemistry, Computer Science, Environmental Science, Geography, Geology, Maths, Physics. You must have or be working towards: English language or Welsh language at GCSE grade C/4 or an equivalent (such as A-levels). If you require a Student visa, you must ensure your language qualification complies with UKVI requirements. GCSE Maths grade C/4 or equivalent qualification (subject and grade). If you are taking A-level Maths (or equivalent), GCSE Maths is not required. Core Maths may also be accepted in place of GCSE Maths. We do not accept Critical Thinking, General Studies, Citizenship Studies, or other similar equivalent subjects. We will accept a combination of BTEC subjects, A-levels, and other qualifications, subject to the course specific grade and subject requirements. IELTS - At least 6.5 overall with a minimum of 5.5 in each sub-score TOEFL iBT - At least 90 with minimum scores of 17 for writing, 17 for listening, 18 for reading and 20 for speaking.
