The School of Fine and Performing Arts offers deep research capabilities across drama, theatre, and performance studies, with dedicated faculty providing ongoing guidance. Specialized areas encompass scriptwriting, theatrical composition, stage design, musical theater, Asian performance traditions, multimedia integration, historical analysis, and practice-led research methodologies. Graduate researchers can engage with active scholarly communities—Contemporary Theatre-Making, (Re)Constructing Musics, and Intercultural Performance—while contributing to the Critical Encounters Research Series alongside faculty and peers. Candidates receive encouragement to showcase their work at conferences worldwide and pursue academic publications. Our doctoral programs foster specialized independent investigation, complemented by scheduled advisory sessions to maintain progress and quality standards. Full-time scholars meet supervisors monthly, while part-time candidates convene bi-monthly. Structured milestones (Study Confirmation, Annual Review, and Transfer) provide opportunities to present research developments to the academic community.
