Gaining insight into Earth's climate patterns and their transformations enables us to prepare for what lies ahead and address worldwide concerns. This research initiative allows students to undertake comprehensive investigations in physical geography through self-directed study, guidance sessions, and academic presentations. It focuses on developing essential competencies for careers in research, urban planning, and environmental advisory services. The School of Geography enables doctoral candidates to collaborate with distinguished scholars whose work has gained global recognition. Notable faculty members include Professor Mark Macklin, specializing in river dynamics, planetary environmental shifts, and watershed risks, along with Professor Edward Hanna, an authority on climate science and meteorology. Participants enjoy a nurturing scholarly environment that fosters knowledge exchange and intellectual growth. Lincoln's geography experts are engaged in diverse studies spanning ancient landscapes and ecological heritage, ice age environmental shifts, the interplay between ecosystems and public welfare, extreme weather phenomena and global warming, geospatial technologies, polar and atmospheric sciences, shoreline and oceanic systems, as well as major waterways and delta regions.
