This program focuses on independent research, enabling you to collaborate directly with leading experts in their disciplines.
Research topics can span any area within social, urban, environmental, development, political, economic, historical, or cultural geography supported by the Human Geography Research Group. The program is jointly offered with the University's Graduate School of Social Science.
It can be completed as a standalone master's degree or serve as the initial year of an ESRC-recognized 13 PhD program.
Upon successful completion, students will:

enhance capabilities in data collection and interpretation
comprehend broader methodological and theoretical discussions pertinent to their studies
