Human Geography examines the connections between individuals and their societies, focusing on elements like language, faith, economic systems, governance models, and various cultural dimensions. This research program enables students to undertake comprehensive investigations through independent study, mentorship sessions, and academic seminars, while developing essential skills for careers in research, urban/rural planning, and development consulting. The School of Geography allows doctoral candidates to collaborate with globally renowned scholars, including Professor Mark Macklin, a specialist in river dynamics, environmental shifts, and ecological risks, and Professor Edward Hanna, an expert in climate science. Learners gain from a collaborative academic environment that fosters knowledge exchange. Lincoln's human geography scholars engage in studies on global migration patterns, countryside revitalization, the geographic aspects of societal and technological progress, historical ecology, archaeological geology, environmental policy, and the examination of socioeconomic disparities across different scales.
