This program provides comprehensive chemistry education while cultivating the critical thinking and research abilities essential for a teaching career, equipping students to educate future generations about chemistry's core significance. Developed jointly with the University's School of Education, which maintains strong partnerships with primary and secondary schools, the curriculum aligns with current industry standards. Degree participants may have access to teaching placements at nearby schools alongside other academic opportunities, though they must cover their own travel, housing, and living expenses during these experiences. The program fosters teamwork through student collaboration with peers, faculty, and educators, promoting analytical reading, discussion, experiential learning, and specialized research. Eligible PGCE applicants training as chemistry teachers may qualify for government bursaries. Chemistry graduates can explore diverse science-oriented professions across industries like energy, petrochemicals, pharmaceuticals, and personal care products.
