PhD candidates conduct independent research projects with supervision, typically completed within 3.0-3.5 years (full-time) or 6.0-6.5 years (part-time). An additional year (full-time) or seventh year (part-time) may be used for thesis preparation. The dissertation, limited to 50,000 words, must offer novel insights and meet publishable standards. Final degree conferral requires successful defense during an oral examination.
