Research in the School of Biosciences focuses on investigating biological systems and cellular mechanisms. With a strong emphasis on molecular approaches, our cutting-edge research initiatives work in harmony and enhance our educational programs.
Overview
Our specialized knowledge in areas like biochemistry, microbiology, and biomedical science enables us to leverage advanced technologies and pioneer innovations in genetics, molecular biology, protein studies, biophysics, and computational biology. Our investigations span diverse molecular phenomena, from cellular division and gene expression to molecular machinery, diagnostic techniques, and the development of biotherapeutics and sustainable energy solutions.
Our research programs center on both laboratory-based and computational projects. Full-time PhD candidates typically complete their research in 3-4 years, while part-time students take 5-6 years. All research students begin working on a specific, in-depth project immediately and participate only in selected components of our professional development curriculum. Each student receives guidance from a supervisory team, including primary advisors and independent chairs who provide objective progress assessments.
