Our program offers a welcoming, vibrant, and encouraging setting where students can explore Earth's evolution alongside leading geoscience experts. Instruction is research-driven, delivered by faculty with global recognition in their specialties. Doctoral candidates undertake self-directed research projects with support from an advisory team. Typically, research concludes within 3.0-3.5 years (full-time) or 6.0-6.5 years (part-time). An additional year (full-time) or seventh year (part-time) - or remaining portion thereof - may be utilized for thesis preparation. The dissertation, limited to 50,000 words, must present novel findings and research worthy of publication. Candidates must successfully defend their work in an oral examination (viva voce) to earn their degree.
