The Department of Molecular and Cell Biology conducts diverse research spanning physicochemical processes to cellular and developmental biology. Doctoral candidates undertake an original research project supervised by faculty, typically within 3-3.5 years (full-time) or 6-6.5 years (part-time). An additional year (or remaining portion) may be used for thesis preparation, with submissions capped at 50,000 words. The dissertation must offer novel insights and include publishable work, followed by an oral defense (viva voce) for degree conferral.
