Bioinformatics represents a rapidly expanding field in both academic and industrial sectors, creating significant demand for skilled professionals. The one-year full-time MSc in Bioinformatics program is designed for graduates in biological sciences, providing comprehensive training in theoretical knowledge and practical analytical techniques essential for this interdisciplinary domain. The curriculum combines structured coursework with supervised research, concluding with a four-month industry placement, research institute collaboration, or project within a University of Leicester laboratory. Participants will utilize a Linux laptop supplied by the university (on loan basis) to build and refine their personal bioinformatics toolkit, with ownership granted upon successful program completion. Additionally, students maintain access to dedicated course servers throughout their studies. The program's capstone involves an independent research project, allowing students to implement their acquired skills while exploring diverse research opportunities with contributions from both university and external partners.
